Message I parted a twin turbo last summer 2010 and even to this day a few members on here still continue to bring it up and try to rip me for it. But I say F the haters.

1.) Paypal sucks but its the fastest and somewhat secure way to receive money. But its good because you can print UPS or USPS labels with tracking numbers and have a secure record of all transactions. Ship to confirm addresses only. Paypal will freeze your account if anyone files any kind of truth or false claim such as not receiving an item or not as described. And you also lose Paypal protection if you dont ship to confirmed address. Once your account is frozen you can only continue to receive money but cant withdraw money or send money. But as long as you can provide proof you should have no problem with paypal being in your favor should someone accuse you of some mishap.

2.) Shipping is easy, you can easily print shipping labels from paypal and never have to wait inline at UPS or USPS. USPS even provides priority boxes for free in all different sizes! Just print the labels and drop the items at the counter or drop boxes and be on your way. For large items like motor and trans, etc, I shipped the engine on a pallet. Those items will have to go freight. Your rear subframe will have to go freight on a pallet as well. Don't use UPS freight or FedEx freight, they will rape you on the shipping charges. I used a private freight carrier, you should be able to find one in your area with using google.

Did you end up spending considerably more TIME on the part out then you anticipated?

YES, but than you will be surprised how quickly some parts moved. Its the little things that took longer to move. But seats, interior panels, door panels, engine and electronic parts moved quickly.

Did it take considerably more space then you envisioned?

YES, because you have to spread the parts out and box or label them and know what was where.

Did it take you longer to sell off most of the car then you envisioned?

It took me about 7months to part out EVERYTHING down to the nuts and bolts.

Did you make what you thought/hoped on the bits?

YES, when added up I made a total of $15k yes $15,000.00

If you have any tips or tricks, or lessons learned, I'd love to hear them.

Take everything apart and spread them and label them. I even pre packaged items in boxes ready to ship out. People want their orders fast so if its boxed I was able to ship same day or within 24hrs of payment, that was my guarantee. Take pictures of everything before you box them as people love to see pictures and it also helps you with paypal disputes if you get any. When you do like 100+ transactions you are bound to have at least 1 unhappy camper for whatever reason.

**Also I was asked to accept paypal for the $1800 engine transaction. That one I refused and requested a cashiers check money order (which buyer agreed to). I didnt feel comfortable with a single $1800 transfer into paypal.

Tearing a full car to its frame is also a good learning experience.
